Different background makes these mutants have a different perspective about human. Magneto came from a poor family, and his mother was killed in front of him. His mission is only one, REVENGE.

The Young & Old Prof. X

While Prof. X, or Charles Xavier, came from a rich family background, live peacefully until he gets his professor degree, and helps the CIA Agent to solve a case about mutants.

They're really a good friend. But, circumstances force them to choose their own way. While Magneto keeps fighting against the human, Prof. X Choose to try to use a peaceful way...

You should watch it, it's really AWESOME movie, and don't worry that you never watched the previous X-Men movie or even never read the comics, it's completely easy to understand.
