A breaking news come LIVE on CNN from The White House, Washington, USA regarding the death of Osama Bin Laden.
At 11:35 pm EST on May 1, President Barack Obama made an announcement that the American people had waited almost 10 years to hear:
"I can report to the American people and to the world, that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al-Qaida and a terrorist who is responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women and children," Obama said.
"I can report to the American people and to the world, that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al-Qaida and a terrorist who is responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women and children," Obama said.
The operation to kill bin Laden was launched earlier Sunday in Pakistan’s Abbottabad, a two-hour drive north of the capital Islamabad. Bin Laden was killed in a firefight. No Americans were harmed.
Who was Osama Bin Laden?
He was the founder of the jihadist organization al-Qaeda, responsible for the September 11 attack on the United States and numerous other mass-casualty attack against civilian and military targets. He was also a member of the wealthy Saudi bin laden family.
Bin Laden was on the American FBI's lists of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives and Most Wanted Terrorists for his involvement in the 1998 US Embassy bombings. From 2001 to 2011, bin Laden and his organization had been major targets of the War on Terror.
On May 1, 2011, U.S. President Barack Obama authorized a raid on bin Laden's suspected location in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The operation was successfully carried out by United States Navy SEALs, with intelligence support from the CIA. During the 40-minute raid, bin Laden was fatally shot in the head. After intelligence searches of the compound were conducted, his body was taken into custody at which point genetic and facial recognition tests were performed. After positive identification, and within 24 hours of his death, bin Laden's body was taken out to sea for burial.
This picture's circulating on the internet now, claims to be the latest picture of the dead Osama. Yet, White House hasn't released any of the picture of Osama's dead body, and apparently this is old edited photo.
Hopefully, this won't lead to another damaging action caused by his follower.
For all that have happened, let's just pray for the peace on earth and may he rest in peace.
God bless all of us,
<3
